Amazon Access and Atlanta-Based Non Profit Camp HBCYouth Conclude Summer With Community Giveback Event In Nashville
Camp HBCYouth, the educational minority youth summer day camp based on the principles and values of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, wrapped up its summer 2024 with a community giveback event in Nashville in collaboration with Amazon Access, the team developing programs and services that make shopping in Amazon stores easier and more affordable for customers. With Camp HBCYouth coming to Tennessee State University for the first time, this event presented the opportunity for campers, parents, and the rest of the community to celebrate a successful summer with Camp HBCYouth.
Over 400 free pizzas from Slim and Husky’s were provided to 350+ children and individuals who stopped by the event. Patrons of all ages were treated to free face painting, games, a bouncy house, music, and raffles during the day-long event.
Patrons had the opportunity to learn about the Amazon Access hub, a one-stop shop for customers to explore programs, discounts, and features that make shopping on Amazon even easier and more affordable. Attendees learned about options like payment with SNAP EBT, Access Discounts, and Prime Access, Prime’s discounted membership program for qualifying government assistance recipients. The Amazon Access team also shared how customers with a registered EBT card can experience Amazon’s new grocery subscription benefits without a Prime membership at just $4.99 per month.

Throughout the summer, Camp HBCYouth provided students and parents with ongoing education and support outside of the school year, in a safe and inclusive environment. The camp features academic enrichment with collaborative projects and small group work, leadership development activities, a summer food program, and recreational activities from arts & crafts, physical fitness, and musical programming. In a similar fashion to HBCUs, Camp HBCYouth serves a vital function in educating minority youth, while increasing access to an otherwise hard-to-obtain development resource, within a traditionally underserved community.
