Quavo Kicks off Rally in Hometown of Atlanta for Democratic Presidential Nominee & Current VP Kamala Harris as she Embarks on Campaign Tour Across the Country

GRAMMY-nominated artist and philanthropist Quavo gave the opening remarks at Vice President Kamala Harris’ Atlanta presidential campaign rally, marking the first stop of her campaign as she pursues the Democratic nomination at the Democratic National Convention. Quavo and VP Harris have become a highly visible duo since September of last year, with the foundation of their relationship rooted in a commitment to gun violence prevention in the United States.

The rally welcomed supporters and stars alike, featuring a performance from artist Megan Thee Stallion and an appearance from Atlanta native, record producer, and rapper Jermaine DupriQuavo attended the event with his family, including his mother, and the mother of his late nephew and fellow Migos member, Takeoff. Losing him tragically to gun violence in 2022 has inspired the inception of Quavo‘s The Rocket Foundation and its advocacy work for gun violence prevention. Ahead of VP Harris’s arrival, Quavo took to the stage to present opening remarks, walking on to enthusiastic applause. He addressed the attendees with a call to action, urging voters to support Kamala Harris‘s nomination bid as a leader who will work to create better, more equitable, and safer communities for future generations.
VP Harris recently joined Quavo and his Rocket Foundation at the inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit in Atlanta to address gun violence. The summit, which partnered with the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, brought together community violence prevention organizations to further the goal of ending gun violence in America and honored Takeoff’s legacy on what would have been his 30th birthday. During the summit, Quavo, his mother, and Takeoff’s mother received a surprise state proclamation from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, naming June 18th as “Takeoff Day.” The event featured panels with survivors and GVP/CVI organizations, as well as a stand out fireside chat between Quavo and Vice President Harris, moderated by Greg Jackson, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Additionally, 10 winning organizations from the Rocket Foundation Spark Grants program were announced and honored during a special ceremony.
