Larussell Shares New Single “Caught Up in My Head”

Indie rap giant, creative entrepreneur and Good Compenny co-founder LaRussell announces his 35th album. Titled Velour, the anticipated release is due this fall and follows on from LaRussell’s joint project, Majorly Independent, with Bay Area’s P-Lo.

Alongside the album announcement, LaRussell shares “Caught Up In My Head” –  the first single from his forthcoming project. The new track is vastly different from previous releases, showcasing LaRussell’s natural ear for melody. He pours his heart and soul into his romantic raps, expertly melding his songwriting chops and emotional honesty.

Caught Up In My Head” is a massive divergence from LaRussell’s usual hip-hop sound, bolstered by piano-led production from Wanderlust“I had an urge to write something fresh and different from the typical Hip-Hop songs I’ve previously written,” LaRussell says. “As soon as the beat came on the words started running to my mind. The beat was infectious! This song practically wrote itself.”

So far this year, LaRussell has been able to keep up his momentum with a steady string of releases, including his landmark collaborative album with Hit-BoyRent Due, which garnered rave reviews from publications such as XXLUPROXXVIBE MagazineEbony MagazineHotNewHipHopHot97, and HipHopDX, among others. He quickly followed that up with a nationwide tour alongside T-Pain, and his aforementioned collaboration with P-Lo. The latter includes special appearances from legendary Oakland MC Too $hortRichie Rich (famous for his 1996 hit with 2Pac “I’d Ratha Be Ya N***a”), 18-year-old Merced rapper Malachi, and more.

In true LaRussell fashion, he’s making arrangements to provide fans with early access to his upcoming album before it hits streaming platforms. Check out “Caught Up In My Head” above, pre-save Velour here and stay tuned for more from LaRussell coming very soon.
