Romance from Chase Monet’s perspective

OnetasteJustEnoughWe had an opportunity to sit down with romance writer Chase Monet to delve into romance and how her books have taken over the fiction world.

You stepping into the world of fiction with Secrets of a Cheating Heart, being as though 85% of women state they have cheated or have been cheated, on how did you create a story that was relatable?

Well, I have always been the Dear Abby of my crew. Male and female friends would both come to me with either the details of their indiscretions or spilling the tea on how they found out that they had been cheated on. They would ask my advice, but most of the time they wouldn’t follow it! (laughs). So when I wrote Secrets of a Cheating Heart, I decided to carry out the scenarios that I felt my friends should have implemented when dealing with the cheating issue.

Romance and sex play a huge part in building a relationship how can one maintain a healthy relationship?

I think communication is key. You have to find out what your partner likes and dislikes. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Set aside time for each other. Life can get hectic but you have to make time for the people who are most important to you. Be spontaneous. So many women I talk to think lingerie is a waste of money. I look at it as an investment. (laughs). I also feel like a man needs to do his part as well to keep the spark going. It’s not enough to just show up to the bedroom. Bring some props, be someone different for the night. Use your imagination!

Take us into the pages of your stories and what a reader can gain from them.

My debut novel Secrets of a Cheating Heart will take you on a journey that uncovers, well, plenty of secrets. The woman’s decision to leave her adulterous husband takes a deadly turn and you discover that not everyone is who they seem to be. It will have you guessing and just when you think you have figured it out, Boom! The lesson to be learned from this story is that everyone has their boiling point. My second novel, One Taste Just Ain’t Enough details how sometimes the lines between love and lust can get blurred. What readers can gain from this story is that even though revenge is a dish best served cold, sometimes you can still get burned from the consequences.

One Taste Just Ain’t Enough is your newest series, it depicts love and lust based on secrets and lies. How did this story come about?

Well I think all of us have known a playboy or two in our lives. I decided to delve deeper into the male psyche to uncover some possible reasons behind wanting to be a “player for life”. Many times it can result from an unrequited love or maybe being hurt by a woman and deciding to never go down that road again. I also wanted to tell the story from a male point of view.
