Who is MeRCY? #OfficialHype

As you see your self, who is MeRCY?

A idealist, a man of many hats, a charming asshole over stunning production. MeRCY is a great reflection of his childhood passion, whether it was watching Dragonball Z or trying to reciting lyrics of Ghostface Killah – I was a character lost in my own imagination.

Tell us about your current project?

The Prestige 3 album was like a testimony for me. It was a insight of my personal life and a progressive journey. The trials and tribulations of a man, finding himself in a lost world. So much was invested in the project. I got to work with the late great Sean Price which will forever be legendary to me. I helped co-produced a few joints and really challenged myself, musically. There’s something for any and everyone.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

Just how the people reacted to my music. Whether it was freestyling during lunch break at school or performing in front of hundreds of strangers; reaction is what sold me.

What makes you the next great happening?

The style of music I represent. The beats, the content, the lyricism, the storytelling and how it’s uniquely refreshing. Nothing trendy or outdated.

Are your currently signed to a label or have any situation in the making?

I’m not currently signed to anything but my situation involves with my music group, iLLustrious. A few talented individuals of many hats. My producer Solidified, and I are trying to connect the dots and brand ourselves, accordingly. The independent route has been the move.

Who and what are your influences?

Nas, Kurt Cobain, Mobb Deep, Biggie Smalls, Wu-Tang and countless others has been a great inspiration to me. Japanese Anime, Comic books, Art and Jack Daniels has also been a great influence. A lot of random dope stuff could easily provoke the thought…a dope conversion could light the fuse to my burning desire.

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 projects?

A lot of great music. A variety of dope shyt. I want to make it better than previous year. I got a few things in the works right now and I can not wait to put things in motion. I like to stay busy. I don’t want to be stagnant. The music world today is at a rapid pace and you can’t afford to lack. I want to stay persistent as well as consistent with my work. I’m about growth and development. Expect some crazy cool shyt on the horizon.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

Regain focus or remain hopeless. The process of progress still continues…you can find all my latest shyt at www.musicbymercy.com

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

I remember it was the end of summer, in Florida, and someone seemed to be in a rush for winter, rocking a straight up Northface jacket in 98* degree weather. Unfortunately, it’s where I stay at and you got people that’ll wear whatever for attention.
