All the Way From Down that Road (Hurtsboro, AL) Upcoming Artist/Producer Ya Boy K-WoN (Daqwan Harris). Ya Boy K-WoN like most kids grew up with Dreams of being the next NFL superstar, until his love and talent for music was discovered. “I’ve Been Writing/Producing/Engineering music for about 5 years now. Its more than a hobby, it’s a Passion, its Life. I consider myself a very versatile artist; I love all styles of music. I like to tell stories with my music. But also I love to have fun with it as well I don’t fell every track has to be a serious track. Some of the best music comes from just having fun with it.” Ya Boy K-WoN definitely has a diverse style that would make it hard for you to put him in a box. You can never know what to expect from Ya Boy. With two mixtape releases under his belt (Hard Work Pays Off), (All Ready) and a third one on the way (DGB). Ya Boy K-WoN is definitely on his way to being the next up.

As you see your self, who is YaBoyK-WoN (YBK)?

Ya Boy K-Won is basically a kid from a small town Hurtsboro, AL with a dream Just like most kids “You Know”. The Dream use to be being an NFL Superstar. But it all changed around my 10th grade year in high school. I always use to play around with rapping when I was younger. But I didn’t actually start taking it serious til my 10th grade year and actually realized that this is something I enjoyed doing. I always did love music, so from there I stopped playing football and starting working on a career in music.

Tell us about your current project?

Well I just dropped a new mixtape November 2nd entitled (DGB) which stands for Dat Grove Boy. The area that I grew up in is called Shady Grove, so I wanted to incorporate that into introducing myself to the people not just as YBK but also as DGB. It’s a 10 track mixtape with a variety of style that I think everybody can vybe out to. From the club, to just riding and vybing or if you just need that good music to help you get through your day “You know”. If you haven’t heard it yet make sure you go check it out its available on livemixtapes.com (Indy) and you can also check it out at yaboykwon.com.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

It’s not really a specific event but it’s more of just the love that I get from people, when they hear my music. Like I always get asked and told all the time. Why are you here? Why are you working here? You should be signed, or Just keep grinding man you’re gone go somewhere and be somebody. That Alone makes me feel like this is what I need to be doing in life, and it keeps me motivated to chase this dream.

What makes you the next great happening?

Well I get told all the time that I have a unique voice that stands out, so that alone I think is going to put me out from other artist. Also my diversity, I think is a great big deal when it comes to me being the next great happening.

Are your currently signed to a label or have any situation in the making?

Currently I’m still independent, Still out here grinding and promoting trying to get this good music into more ears. Also a couple of my partners and me, are in the process of putting this group idea together that’ I think is going to be really dope. So be on the look for that in 2016.

Who and what are your influences?

To be honest I really don’t have a specific influence but it’s more of just hearing great music period, from other artist past and present, major and independent. I just love music. But I am a really big fan of blues. Growing up in the south its hard not to love blues “lol”. Riding around with my dad when I was little that’s all he really listened to, so blues is definitely one of my favorite genres.

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 projects?

For 2016 one of my main goals is getting more visuals out and just getting my face in front of the people more. So definitely be on the look of seeing more of ya boy. Also, expect more great music as well.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

I just want the people to know. I appreciate everybody that takes the 3-5 mins out of their day and actually listens. The love really means a lot. #salute Just know we on the way baby and remember It’s grind season, time to get up and get this money. big things in the works for 2016.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

My craziest where they do that at moment I gotta say is seeing someone write fake tag numbers on a vehicle with a permanent marker. I mean I have seen people ride around with the new car tag like way longer than you’re suppose to and even riding with no tag at all for years. but I have never seen someone right fake tag numbers on a car. That was definitely something new in my opinion. “lol”
